Middlebrough Also Interested In Britton

Fellow Championship side Middlesbrough are interested in signing Leon Britton, according to various reports.

There are strong rumours that the midfielder is close to finalising a move to Premier League side Wigan Athletic, where he'll team up again with former team-mates Jordi Gomez and Jason Scotland, plus his previous boss Roberto Martinez.

Wigan look to be strong favourites to land the former West Ham United trainee as they can offer Britton Premiership football, but Middlesbrough could be an attractive move as they could double his current wages, says the Evening Post.

It looks highly unlikely now that he'll be tempted to stay on at the Liberty Stadium, as he is out of contract and has the chance of doubling his wages at Middlesbrough or playing Premiership football with Wigan Athletic.

Britton is currently on holiday as he decides his future, but we should expect a decision soon as he is due to return home this week.
