Jenkins: Britton Is Talking To Other Clubs

Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins has revealed that midfielder Leon Britton has been talking to other clubs while he mulls over a new contract at the Liberty Stadium.

The former West ham United trainee has been at the club for 7 years, but we could risk losing him for nothing this Summer.

Former boss Roberto Martinez at Wigan Athletic has been strongly linked with Britton as you'd expect.

His future with the Swans first came into doubt last year when he refused to enter talks with the board regarding a new contract, instead he decided to wait until the end of the season to make a decision on his future.

Jenkins said:

'All I know is that according to Leon's agent, he is talking to other clubs, as he is perfectly entitled to do,'

'With some players we have set deadlines for them to give us an answer, but in Leon's case we won't be doing that. When you think about the service he has given us, we feel he deserves a little bit more from us.'

Couldn't agree more, to be honest this was always going to be likely. Although I hope for his sake that he does NOT sign to Wigwam. Our players have not had the greatest of receptions so he would have a huge battle ahead of him, even before he steps onto the pitch.
