O'Driscoll: I'm Gutted For Swansea City

Doncaster Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll said he feels gutted that Swansea City didn't make the play-offs.

His side made it difficult for us yesterday as we struggled to score the one goal that would have got us that play-off spot. Craig Beattie was denied a penalty while Lee Trundle had a goal ruled out for handball.

These were decisions that went against us late on in the game, but you have to say considering we were playing for 6th place, we should have got a goal earlier in the game.

O'Driscoll said about the penalty that wasn't given:

'I have seen them given,'

'I'm sure Paulo (Sousa) has got penalties which were a bit soft and he has been denied others which should have been given. It happens to us all — we are all in the same boat.

'Obviously this one was a big decision because it was a big game for Swansea.

'You can't complain about the Trundle handball. It's a clear handball and it's not even a talking point.

'But every manager would be unhappy about penalty decisions like that one. There was a collision between the two players. Sometimes you get them and sometimes you don't.'

'At the start of the week we said that Swansea's focus would be greater because there was more on the game for them,'

'But we told the players to treat the game as if they needed to win to get into the play-offs. We came up to this division with them and the way they play is terrific. I am a big admirer of theirs and we try to play the same way.

'Our fans were saying we couldn't play our way out of League One a couple of seasons ago, but Swansea came to us and beat us 4-0 playing good football.

'I'm gutted for Swansea that they haven't made the play-offs, although to be fair to Blackpool they have played good football too.'
