Wigan Athletic & Burnley Interested In Britton

Wigan Athletic and Burnley are believed to be interested in signing midfielder Leon Britton, who's out of contract in June.

Britton's future at Swansea City has been in doubt ever since the end of last year when he decided to wait until the end of the season to decide his future - rather than to discuss a new contract at the Liberty Stadium.

Despite that though, Britton was quoted recently saying that he asked to have contract talks in March, but the club rejected, saying they won't be holding any talks over new deal until the season has finished.

Former boss Roberto Martinez made a late attempt in the January transfer window to sign Britton, but he failed with a bid, but he looks set to come back and try again in the Summer.

Wigan Athletic would certainly have a much better chance of securing the signing of Leon Britton, seeing as though they've almost secured their place in the Premiership, while Burnley are likely to get relegated back into the Championship, plus of course Martinez and Britton have worked together for a number of years.

The club could well have made a costly mistake in March to reject Britton's request to sort out a new contract, as we risk losing him for nothing in a few months, while we could have got a decent fee if we had him under contract.
