'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Tate Criticises Booing Swansea City Fans

Vice captain Alan Tate has hit out at those fans who booed the team after Saturday's 0-0 bore draw at home to Ipswich Town.

by grandslam05
"I didn't boo but I can understand why some fans did"
The former Manchester United defender has branded the booing 'ridiculous' considering that we're competing for a play-off place in the Championship, compared to where we were 7 years ago - battling to stay in the Football League.

Tate said it was disappointing to only draw against Roy Keane's side but there's no need to boo at the players and management:

'Booing at the end is a bit ridiculous considering if you look at where Darlington are now (bottom of League Two),'

We were Darlington seven years ago.

'People need to realise that we've come a long way and not think we automatically deserve to be up here because we don't.

'It's no good moaning because I haven't seen many teams who have come here and thought we'll give these a good game by passing it and trying to win the game.

'I don't think anyone's come here, apart from Middlesbrough early in the season, and thought we'll go there and have a go.

'There was no need to boo at the end. It was not as if we were bad and got beat 3-0.'

'It's disappointing we didn't win the game,'

'But they haven't had a chance to win it while we've had a couple and on the day a point is better than nothing.

'We knew after our result in midweek there needed to be a reaction and we knew after their result in the week they needed a reaction too.

'I think they got it as well as us, although I don't really think they came to win the game.

'Five points is a lot to make up in six games and a couple more wins will hopefully cement us in there.

'It's better to be five points in the lead than chasing five points.

'People need to realise that and get behind us.'

I have great respect for Alan Tate, he has been far and away our best player this season. But he has to realise that people go to football matches to be entertained, they pay hard earned cash for the privelege of watching. Recently there has been little to cheer. I'm sorry but people love goals Alan and until the team can deliver goals on a regular basis then there is going to be booing and criticism. Prove everyone wrong that's the way to react to booing, Go out and beat Cardiff for a start, you'll be surprised how people will cheer you then.

Beat Cardiff and the last 5 or 6 games will be forgot, trust me

Lack of goals has been a big problem all season so why have we sent Dobbie to Blackpool who scored for them Saturday with a cool finish and persist with Pintado on the bench i would much prefer Dobbie there who could come on grab a goal and make a difference

I agree taylor and also why have we loaned out Painter who's a good left back at this level.
