Sousa: We Need To Educate Our Fans

Swansea City boss was disappointed yesterday with the way that the fans supported his team during the goalless draw against Sheffield Wednesday.

Our passionate manager has always urged hte supporters to get behind the players and generate a good atmosphere at home, but he wasn't happy with some sections of the crowd yesterday.

Sousa told Wales Online:

"We need to educate our fans,"

"We have a lot of younger fans and they need to learn how to help us because what they did out there was not the best way to do it.

"Sheffield Wednesday came with a lot of fans and they made a lot of noise. They were helping them all the time to get the result.

"I understand that, at this stage of the season, our fans are getting anxious because of where we are in the table.

"They always want us to win and play well and they are getting nervous, which sometimes makes the players nervous.

"The fans need to know that they don`t need to worry, they don`t need to be anxious or create anxiety in our players.

"They just need to support the team because, after that, the players will give them the results.

"We need them to believe in our success. They just need to keep supporting us - it`s so easy like that, so simple."

Swansea City will need that extra 12th man from the Liberty Stadium crowd on Tuesday when we host promotion-chasing West Brom.

This is a very interesting comment from Paulo Sousa. I think he doesn't realise that fans need to see drive from the players then they will respond. It is very difficult to derive a lot of excitement from his style of play. Granted it is successful but a lot of older Swans fans have ben brought up on attacking football with a lot of goals and when you see less than a goal a game this season, excitement is thin on the ground. It works two ways Paulo---we need the team as well as they need us.
