Bauza Returns & Targets First Team Place

Bauza Returns & Targets First Team Place

Guillem Bauza has finally returned from a long term injury and is aiming for a first team place.

A knee injury has meant that the Spanish striker has made just 3 substitute appearances this season but after returning on Tuesday night, he's now looking to earn himself a regular place in the first team.

Bauza told the Evening Post:

'I'm glad I could get on the pitch. The feeling to be there helping my mates is wonderful,'

'I've had a really tough season, I think I deserved another opportunity and I think I did well.

'I've always been ready to help the team and I've always been working hard and the gaffer knows that.

'Now I think I deserve maybe the role I played on Tuesday or maybe more in the next game.'

Swansea City's next match is on Saturday when they host struggling Sheffield Wednesday at the Liberty Stadium. A start for Bauza would seem highly unlikely but he says he's going to work hard to earn himself a place in the side:

'I always work hard to play in the next game,'

'First of all I wanted to help the team to get the three points on Tuesday, and then I wanted to show the gaffer that he can use me in the next fixtures.

'It's very difficult after such a long time out. You need to be strong minded and think you're going to have what you deserve.

'When you have played just two games all season, never from the start, you lack that confidence and that sharpness. But I think I performed really well and we got the three points, so that's a big reward for me and for the team.'
