Tate Hits Out At Referee's Costly Mistakes

Tate Hits Out At Referee's Costly Mistakes

Swansea City defender and vice-captain Alan Tate has hit out and yet more poor refereeing decisions, following Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest.

The former Manchester United player says there's been so many poor decisions gone against us this season that it looks like a conspiracy.

The referee made two big decisions that didn't go in our favour on Saturday, decisions that could have made a big difference to the game and the result. Pratley was denied a stone-wall penalty, and there was a clear offside just before Forest won the corner that got them the all-important winning goal.

The Swans camp were fuming after the game and rightly so, as this is hardly the first time that we've suffered some terrible decisions from FA match officials. Tate even gives examples of some of them:

'That decision (the penalty claim) could cost us £60million as a club.

'You can excuse one or two going against you in a season, but this is getting ridiculous.

'I can tell you a few off the top of my head that have gone against us — Craig Beattie not getting a penalty at Doncaster; the penalty farce at Plymouth; the free-kick for Reading's goal at their place; another penalty that Beats didn't get at home to Blackpool.

'If we had made two mistakes like he (Webster) made we wouldn't be in the team for next week. Maybe he shouldn't be reffing in the league next week.

Tate also comments on the referee's poor decisions during Saturday's game at the City Ground:

'That decision (the penalty claim) could cost us £60million as a club.

'You can excuse one or two going against you in a season, but this is getting ridiculous.

'I can tell you a few off the top of my head that have gone against us — Craig Beattie not getting a penalty at Doncaster; the penalty farce at Plymouth; the free-kick for Reading's goal at their place; another penalty that Beats didn't get at home to Blackpool.

I can't beleive the reaction to a penalty not being given!!? There's neglible contact but we've all seen them given, and not gien, before, so why the big fuss? Oer 90mins we created more chances and took one right at the end, from a perfectly legitimate corner. If Tate doesn't understand the offside rule now it's changed should he really be playing at the back for a professional side!? Blackstock only becomes active in the second phase, when he's clearly not offside after it comes off the defenders head and changes direction. You need to be carefull because what with Pratley's (who was your stand out player and only real saving grace on Saturday) arrogant comments at the end too you're fast becoming a team of very poor losers.

well now you can say that we are poor losers, forestfumbler, but today we did not lose we were cheated.the media agree, the comentators(both on radio and tv).now by my reconing that puts you in the minority and therefore WRONG.obviously you have bias toward forest as your team that is understandable.I have bias toward mine but what sets me and you apart is that I am also a forest fan as well as a swans fan.So I went to the game, hoping for a swansea win but thinking a point would do and losing not to bad.losing i can get over move on but when we are cheated it aint so easy.OK you played well but the ref was appalling and so were the linesmen. If I could sue them under the TRADE discriptions act i would.SORE losers no my freind just upset at injustice.
