De Vries Says Sorry For Error At Forest

Swansea City goalkeeper Dorus De Vries says he's sorry for being at fault for conceding the vital goal to give Nottingham Forest a 1-0 win on Saturday at the City Ground.

It was a tight contest between 3rd and 4th in the Championship which looked like it was heading for a goalless draw until Chambers headed home from a corner after De Vries missed the in swinging cross.

After the game, the Swans were angered by some more refereeing decisions that went against us. Pratley was denied what looked like a stone-wall penalty, and there was an offside leading up to the corner that created Forest's winning goal.

De Vries said:

'It's so hard for us because we are very angry at what happened,'

'You have the penalty we should have had, and then the corner where their guy is two yards offside — it's very clear — and they get a corner and punish us.

'Again we have a decision when we are denied points by a referee's decision.

'You have to do things yourself, don't get me wrong, but the decisions made by referees can be very costly.

'We are gutted with the goal. I caught my fist to it, but there wasn't enough contact. Maybe that sums up our day.

'But I have to say sorry to the guys and the supporters for missing the ball.'

The Dutch goalkeeper also commented on the poor match officials and their decisions:

'The referee gave so much to them and nothing to us,' added the Swansea keeper. 'I saw (Wes) Morgan hanging on to Shefki (Kuqi) on so many occasions, but we get nothing.

'He (Colin Webster) was a big influence on the game and a referee shouldn't be that.

'I guess we shouldn't focus on the referee and let his decisions affect us, but there's been a lot of times now where things have gone against us. Things should balance themselves up, but we could play another 50 games and maybe it would only happen for us then.'

He hasnt made many mistakes all season but if the referee was any good we would have had another clean sheet.
