Bodde Needs Another Knee Operation

Bodde Needs Another Knee Operation

Ferrie Bodde has been dealt a massive blow with the news that he needs another operation on his troublesome left knee - which means he'll be sidelined until the start of next season.

After suffering an injury for the second time on his return, some of us feared the worst - that his career would be over but hopefully he can still make a recovery and return next season.

Bodde picked up the initial knee injury in November 2008 in a home game against Birmingham City.

He made a return in September 2009 but he was forced after just 9 minutes. After 5 months of rehabilitation and hard training work in Holland, he was back on Saturday to face Peterborough United at the Liberty Stadium.

To some it seemed a return was premature and too risky, but Bodde was at full fitness with his knee in excellent condition - ready to play a full game.

Sousa said:

'We all feel for Ferrie,''

'It's something we could never have predicted.

'He received the best medical treatment possible and all the leading specialists confirmed that he was fully recovered to play.

'He looked stronger than ever and fully intergrated himself into training. It's a shock to everyone and all we can do now is wish him a speedy recovery again.''

Bodde was obviously devastated with the news:

'I'm devastated,''

'It's nobody's fault, just one of those things.

'I've worked really hard over the last few months on my rehab, training seven hours a day and six days a week, and felt really good during the game on Saturday.

'All I can remember is jumping for a ball and turning on my left leg when I landed. I knew something was wrong straight away.

'The doctor said after the scan that I need an operation.''

it could have been worse, at least there's the chance he could come back next season, still a massive disappointment for him

Really feel for Bodde, he would never have played if he didn't think he was ready so it's nobodies fault. Let's just hope things go well for a speedy recovery.
