Britton: We Can Cope With Midfield Shortage

Britton: We Can Cope With Midfield Shortage

Leon Britton says the squad can cope despite having 4 key central midfielders out injured.

Joe Allen and Andrea Orlandi suffered injuries in the away win at Derby County while Darren Pratley and Ferrie Bodde picked up problems during Saturday's home win against Peterborough United.

It's speculated that Pratley will only miss a game or two with a bruised knee, but there's no official confirmation of his injury, while Bodde could be hit with bad news that he's set for another agonising spell on the sidelines.

Despite a lack of midfielders available at present, Leon Britton believes the team can still cope:

'I think we can cope,' said Britton.

'We are adaptable and can change things if needed.

'Players can play out of position and still do a job. Ash (Williams) has played in midfield and did a good job.

'At Plymouth we changed it around and played a different formation, so we can look at different approaches.

'You lose that extra man in midfield when you go 4-4-2, but that means we have another player up front which means we can get it up quicker.

'I think that is definitely an option we will look at.

'It's up to the manager and it depends on who is available to play in whatever situation, but I really believe we will be okay.

'We have a busy month in March with seven games to come, but whoever comes in has to step up and do the job.'
