Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins believes that the club is ready to compete in the Premiership.
Paulo Sousa has guided the Swans to an impressive 4th place in the Championship so far, and our recent form is giving everyone more belief that a top flight football is a reality for the club.
Swansea City have yet to lose a match in 2010, and while there are still plenty of points to play for, we're looking good for a play-off finish this year.
Premier League football next season would of course be unbelievably good, considering where we were less than 7 years ago - competing to stay in the Football League.
There's a still a lot of work to be done to stay where we are in the League and we mustn't get too carried away just yet, but Premiership football it certainly not beyond our reach this year. And if we were to get there, Huw Jenkins says we are ready for it:
'We are ready to go anywhere, and we could cope with playing in the Premier League.
'Everybody knows that there is a bit of a gap between the top four or five clubs in the top division and everyone else.
'But I think the rest of the division is much of a muchness.
'I believe a lot of the top Championship sides would compete with a lot of the clubs in the Premier League, and we are one of those sides.
'You only have to look at Birmingham City as a good example of what you can achieve.
'They have not changed a lot from last season when they got promoted.
'They have made one or two little adjustments and they are mid-table in the Premier League and having a good season,'
Jenkins also added that if the club did reach the top league, they wouldn't change their philosophy:
'If we are lucky enough to go up, whether it's this year, next year or in the next five years, we will not change our philosophy,'
'Whatever league we are in, we are not going to follow anyone else. We will stick with the kind of players we have got and the way we play.
'We cannot lose sight of how we have done our recruitment over the last few years and where that has got us.
'We are never going to look for players who have already failed in the Premier League somewhere else.
'A lot of clubs who get promoted seem to go and buy players from clubs who have just been relegated. It's obvious to me that if you do that, you are going to struggle.'![]()
