'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Savage Hits Out Over 'Career-Ending' Tackle

Robbie Savage won't shut up as he continues to moan about Gorka Pintado's tackle on him during Saturday's win at Derby County.

The tackle, which was quite horrendous to be fair, got the Spaniard a straight red card but quotes that it was a 'career-ending' tackle are a bit over the top considering he wasn't hurt at all.

Joe Allen on the other hand was forced off the pitch in the first half after a similar awful two-footed challenge by McEveley - hate later received red after picking up another yellow card.

Savage, who's been known to fly into a tackle or two himself during his career, fumed:

"That was a career-ending tackle,"

"It was one of the worst I`ve ever seen. It`s a good job I used my experience to get out of the way.

"If I hadn`t done that I would have had a broken leg and that would have ended my career.

"He should get banned for more than three games for that.

"I play on the edge but that was terrible. He knew he had to go."

"If the guy hadn`t lunged from 40 yards, two-footed and thigh-high, that wouldn`t have happened.

"Most people will be glad it was on me. But what I want to see, as captain, is all my teammates coming in and sticking up for me."

Savage doesn't sound bitter at all about losing to the Swans [sarcasm!], he said:

"We`re disappointed with the result.

"But Swansea are a good team. It was a horrible game. The pitch wasn`t conducive to playing good football and the atmosphere was quiet.

"Nothing really happened, apart from the sendings off and a 1-1 would have been fair. Nobody deserved to win."

I absolutely hate this guy. he loves all the media attention but he's a hypocrite, i've seen him make some awful tackles in the past. Career-ending tackle? you weren't even hurt and ********* to you getting out of the way, Pintado made contact with you all right.

still no excuse, terrible tackle, no room in football for that sort of play, hope he gets a good ban and swansea fine him heavily, if it was against us we'd want the book thrown at him
