Pintado Suspended For 4 Games

Gorka Pintado will be suspended for four games after receiving his second red card of the season.

The Spanish striker lunged into Robbie Savage with a two-footed tackle during Saturday's 1-0 victory away at Derby County.

Having picked up a straight red card earlier in the season, for a foul during the Scunthorpe Carling Cup tie, he'll get an extra game added to the initial 3-match suspension.

It has to be said, it was a disgraceful tackle but as much as I dislike Robbie Savage, as a striker or any player for that matter, you can't be getting sent off twice in a season and being out of action for 4 key League games.

Paulo Sousa told the Evening Post:

'We have worked a lot on this and I have already spoken to my players,'

'But it's not a question of discipline, it's a question of controlling your emotions.

'My players are not without discipline, but it's difficult for them to control their emotions when they are up against 14.'

There has been talk in the press today that Swansea City could face a fine and a FAW probe after a brawl occurred following Pintado's tackle. You wouldn't be surprised, what with the FAW never being an association or are willing to help us out. Yet, why should we get fined when the brawl was started by the Derby County players? They were the ones who rushed over to confront Gorka for his challenge. Our players didn't really have an option but to step in to defend their team-mate. Derby boss Nigel Clough, as well as Savage both said they were happy to see that sort of response from their players, and yet we are the ones should get a fine!?

awful tackles like the one on Saturday will do himself no favours here, he's already playing crap and now he's getting himself sent off again. in my opinion we need to get rid, nowhere near good enough for this league. bring back dobbie i say

The tackle on Savage was despicable, and Pintado should be fined by the club as well as being banned. However, in the aftermath the Derby goalkeeper should have received a red for the assault on Pintado. It shows yet again the quality of the officials. Once a player raises an arm with intent it is an automatic red card.

4 game ban good news i think at least now Trundle might get a run out when Shefki is tired more chance of him creating something unlike Pintado

I agree, and Saturday may be a good time to bring on Trunds for at least half an hour.He may be a bit slower,if that,s possible, but he does score at a good "goal to games" ratio
