Kuqi: Sousa Has Created An Unbelievable Atmosphere

Shefki Kuqi says Paulo Sousa has created an unbelievable atmosphere amongst the squad.

The Finn, Swansea City's most recent signing, joined in January on a free transfer from Koblenz and he has already scored 2 winning goals to help us pick up points.

His second goal for the club came in yesterday's 1-0 win away at Derby County, as he headed home David Cotterill's free-kick to give us 3 more vital points - which extends our gap from Cardiff City to 4.

Kuqi told BBC Sport:

'I'm really pleased, not just because of the goal but because of the three points after the lads put in so much effort,'

'We've been practising free kicks and corners every day in training and it paid off.

'We've got a really good group here, the gaffer has created an unbelievable atmosphere.

'I'm really happy to be part of this team. We're looking for a really exciting end of season.

'I had other options when I came here. But there was something that clicked with me straight away.

'I'm really happy to be here now.'

The 33 year-old striker also commented on the sendings off in yesterday's game, as both teams ended the match with 10 men.

McEveley got a second yellow card for a foul on Nathan Dyer, but he was lucky to be on the pitch after an awful two-footed tackle on Joe Allen.

Gorka Pintado came on as a second half substitute but it didn't take him to get sent off, after a 2-footed lunge on Robbie Savage.

Kuqi added: 'It should have been a straight red [for McElevey],'

'But he got away with it. I don't think he [Pintado is] that type of player but Savage got straight up.

'I don't think he meant to hurt him. I'm pleased it wasn't anything bad.

'He's going to be suspended for a couple of games but I'm sure he'll be back again.'

i didnt know what to make about kuqi when he first signed, and before he came here. he's 33 and i wondered whether he'd be too slow and unfit. totally wrong as he's gelled in instantly and scored 2 goals to gain us 4 points. keep it up kuqi, love the swan dive!
