Sousa Rejected Premiership Moves To Join Swans

Sousa Rejected Premiership Moves To Join Swans

<>Paulo Sousa has been quoted in today's Mirror that he didn't accept offers from Premiership clubs before joining the Swans in July 2009.

The Portuguese legend, who played for a string of top European sides, has dreams of managing in the English Premier League but he rejected the opportunity to experience that at the beginning of this season.

Sousa said:

"I had offers earlier to be an assistant coach and a coach in the Premier League, but I didn`t accept them.

"My biggest dream is to coach in the Premier League. I`m convinced this will happen with Swansea or with another club."

Paulo Sousa couldn't really be much more popular amongst Swansea City fans right now, as he's taken us up to 4th in the Championship thanks to an 11-match unbeaten run that hasn't seen us lose a game in 2010 so far.

Promotion to the Premier League would surely make him a legend at this club, the first man to do that since John Toshack achieved that feat in the early 80's.

And If Sousa could deliver top flight football to the city of Swansea then it would arguably be a more impressive achievement than John Toshack's, considering the amount of money in football now and limitations Sousa has had with transfer fees and wage budgets.

We don't want to get too far ahead ourselves, of course, but there's no reason why we can't believe that promotion this season is possible. Considering our form, play-offs this season should be a must and what happens then in May is anyone's guess.

can Paulo Sousa take us up to the Premier League this season?
