Sousa: We Deserved More Than A Draw

Sousa: We Deserved More Than A Draw

Paulo Sousa said his side deserved more than a draw against Newcastle United at home this afternoon.

The Swans were clearly the better and dominated from start to finish but they were unable to create enough chances to boost our lead.

David Cotteril opened the scoring after 56 minutes with a superb strike but just 5 minutes from the end striker Caroll headed home an undeserved equaliser.

Sousa said:

'Football sometimes is cruel because, although Newcastle are the best side in the league, we are the best at playing football and we deserved more than we got today.

'We must be proud of the way we played as they recognised that we have the quality to operate against different opponents.

'There is no doubt that we are the best footballing side in the Championship and we showed it today.

'We never had any luck and perhaps Andy Carroll should not even have been on the field after elbowing Garry Monk a few minutes earlier, but I am not angry as the referee obviously saw it differently.

'We are doing well, but there is still a lot of we can do to improve even further, although our form is now stronger than ever.'

Honestly, keep working on finishing and passing in the box and there will be no more 'We Deserved More Than A Draw'.
