Late Bids For Rangel & Britton Rejected
Swansea City had to fend off late interest from Premiership sides Wigan Athletic and Fulham to hang on to Leon Britton and Angel Rangel.
Former Swans boss Roberto Martinez contacted the club about loaning Leon Britton, while Fulham showed an interest in Spanish right back Angel Rangel.
The Evening Post believed that Wigan were willing to pay a fee to loan Leon Britton as well as exchange Ben Watson for the midfielder.
Both moves were ignored by chairman Huw Jenkins, and we can now look forward to having our key players still at the Liberty Stadium for the remainder of the season at the least.
Britton said he was glad that the transfer deadline is passed:
'To be honest, I'm quite glad the deadline has passed,'
'I always thought I was going to be at Swansea until the end of the season at least and, as I've always said, I remain committed to the club.
'I am not disappointed I am still here. I want to try to get into the Premier League with Swansea and I'm glad I can now concentrate on the important games we've got between now and the end of the season.
'As far as my future goes, I will think about it in the summer, as I have said all along.'
