Blades Sold Cotterill Because Of Inconsistency

Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell said he decided to sell David Cotterill because he lacked consistency.

Swansea City paid 600,000 for the young Welsh winger and although he's yet to a decent spell in the first team since he joined, he has shown glimpses of class - including a stunning 30 yard goal away at Leicester City.

He faces some tough competition for a regular place on the wing in Paulo Sousa's side, with Nathan Dyer, Cedric Van Der Gun, Tom Butler and Mark Gower all competing for places.

Blackwell said:

'I didn't feel 'Cotts' gave us enough quality often enough. We knew the transfer window was coming up and Swansea made an enquiry so we decided to move him on.'

''Cotts', on his day, was exciting but he didn't give me enough of those so we cashed the money in and got somebody else who may provide more consistently.'

His shots are more on target than the other left sided wingers.
