Martinez To Bid £1m For Leon Britton?

Former Swansea City boss Roberto Martinez will be back to raid his old club with a £1 million bid for Leon Britton, according to the People.

The midfielder's future has been in doubt in recent weeks as he has refused to discuss a new contract at the Liberty Stadium.

The former West Ham United player, now in his 8th season with the Swans said he's going to wait until the end of the season before deciding where his future lies.

However, his future could possibly be decided by the end of the month as there have plenty of rumours and speculation linking him with QPR, Fulham and Wigan Athletic.

I can't remember the last time a story like this from a tabloid newspaper was true, but if in the unlikely event it was, it would be a win-win situation for Swansea City and Leon Britton in my opinion. It looks almost certain that the 27 year-old is in his last season with Swansea City and he is out of contract in less than 6 months time. Plus Leon Britton would get the chance to play in the Premiership - providing Martinez can keep Wigan Athletic up this year.

Like I said, highly unlikely if this story was true, but £1m would be excellent business for a player we could well lose for nothing in the Summer.

It's the People, so it could well be a load of BS. He's a central midfielder, excellent at winning possession and very consistent. What lets him down though is his complete lack of shooting ability, he just can't score and I think you need better players to improve your squad.

good news for us, but will be a flop in a struggling side, way out of his depth is prem football

Wigan won't go down IMO. There are teams worse off than Wigan.
