Sousa: 'Managing Swansea Is My Ambition'

With Owen Coyle leaving Burnley for Bolton Wanderers this week, it was inevitable really that Paulo Sousa was going to be linked with the vacant manager's job at Turf Moor.

Following newspaper reports linking Sousa with a move to the Premiership side, BBC Sport put a spanner in the works really by carefully selecting quotes in an article to suggest that Paulo Sousa was eyeing a top-flight move to match his Premiership ambition. They got the response they were looking for from the fans, as they questioned his loyalty to us - believing he'd jump ship as soon as an Premier League opportunity came along.

However, Sousa was later quoted in the local media as being appreciated to be linked with a move to Burnley, but insisted he's concentrating completely on the job in hand at Swansea City, although he hasn't ruled out a move to Turf Moor.

"It`s something I appreciate because it`s recognition that we are doing well and people are aware of our work,"

"It`s important to hear these things. Recognition is one of the most important things in your work. We need to feel proud of this.

"It means it is recognition for the work we are all doing. We are in a good place and I am happy."

Talking about his job at Swansea City, he added:

"Managing Swansea is my ambition. I came here with my ambitions and a desire to do well and I am happy at that and also happy because I see interest in my players from other clubs. This is important recognition.

"My interest is doing our work well because this is what I love to do, this is where my passion is.

"And I will respect my club, my players and myself as a manager to doing the best for the club. This is what I am concentrating on.

"And, with respect, I am Swansea manager and that is all I am concentrating on."

At first it seemed quite laughable about the prospect of Sousa leaving to join Burnley, but considering even Brian Laws is one of the favourites amongst the bookies to get the job, I certainly wouldn't rule it out.

Dont want to worry you but this is what Owen Coyle has said in last year to show his loyalty(NOT) to BFC-March 2009-"I've no intention of going anywhere, I love it at this football club. "Our focus is on staying together. I didn't bring players into this football club to be up and leaving at the first opportunity. "That's never going to be the case. ... See More "I'm not upping and leaving at the drop of a hat, I'm here for as long as the club want me, and they know that. "I want to be here, I don't want anybody to be distracted, there's a job to be done here, and I want to do it." Said only last month -“I enjoy being at the football club, I enjoy my work and coming through the door every morning” and the one that takes the biscuit--"If money's their god, they'll be motivated by money, I personally was always motivated by football." I will never, ever trust the words of any manager ever again they are bull*****ting ********s. As it happens I think we can do better than Sousa who has no Prem league experience whatsoever

Sounds exactly like what Martinez did to us, giving us a load of B.S loyalty talk before leaving for Wigan. You say you can do better than Sousa but why on earth is Brian laws emerged as a target? he's crap.
