Swansea City Looking To Offload Dobbie?

The Evening Telegraph report today that Scottish First Division side Dundee have ended their interest in signing Stephen Dobbie, but they believe Swansea City are looking to release him from their wage bill.

The Scot, who joined the Swans on a free transfer from Queen of the South last Summer, has struggled to win a regular starting place in Paulo Sousa's side and the newspaper believe that Swansea City want him off their wage bill. Therefore it's believed we want to loan him out to save paying his wages before selling him at the end of this season.

There were reports earlier today linking Dobbie with a return to the Scottish First Division but Dundee have ended their interest in signing him on loan because of his reported £6,000-a-week wage.

Paulo Sousa said at the start of the season that he wanted 24 or 25 players in his squad, but the Swans are paying wages to 10 more players than that figure. The Swansea City boss is keen to strengthen his team further in this transfer window but he'll need to release some players as well to help decrease the wage bill.

Dobbie arrived at the Liberty Stadium with plenty of potential to take over from Jason Scotland as our main goalscorer, having scored 23 goals for Queen of the South the previous season.

Unfortunately though, Dobbie seems to have failed in his attempts to impress new manager Paulo Sousa and he could be looking at a loan move before the end of the month.

SPL side Aberdeen are also reported to be targeting Stephen Dobbie along with Plymouth Argyle frontman Steven MacLean.

certainly looks that way now. it's a big shame for dobbie, had a good goalscoring record in scotland and you could tell he was looking forward to joining us, but he's been left in the reserves.
