Sousa Linked With Burnley Manager's Job

Paulo Sousa has been mentioned as a possible candidate to take over at Premiership side Burnley as Owen Coyle looks set to take over at Bolton Wanderers.

Coyle hasn't yet completed a move to the Reebok Stadium but it looks highly likely that the Clarets will be looking for a new manager after they agree a compensation package with Wanderers.

Coyle was wanted by Scottish Premier League side Celtic in the Summer but he stayed loyal then to Burnley and signed a new 4 year contract. But loyalty now seems to have gone out of the window as he looks set to leave a club who he has guided from the Championship play-offs to 14th in the Premiership.

Swansea City boss Paulo Sousa, who has guided the Swans to a play-off place so far in only his first season at the club, has been mentioned as a possible target to succeed the Scot at Turf Moor.

Other names that have been mentioned are former Championship manager Darren Ferguson (sacked by Peterborough) and Alan Irvine (sacked by Preston NE). Ian Holloway is another manager, like Paulo Sousa, who has done impressively well in the Championship and could be on their list of targets.
