Sousa: Cotterill Can Do More For Us

Paulo Sousa says David Cotterill has a lot more to offer to the team after his stunning strike in yesterday's FA Cup 3rd round defeat at Leicester City.

So far, since his loan move from Sheffield United, the young Welsh international hasn't been given many opportunities to prove his quality but he wasted no time when he was given only his second start for the Swans. After just 10 minutes, he put us in front with one of the best goals of the 3rd round, firing the ball into the top corner from 30 yards.

Paulo Sousa brought him to the Liberty Stadium for that sort of quality in midfield and he explained why he hasn't featured too often in the first team:

"It was a great strike and we want to improve our goals outside the box.

"He (Cotterill) had a slow start with us but he needed to understand our style and movement and some players take a little bit more time.

"But we know what he can do for us and we keep helping him to help the team.

"It`s disappointing to lose because all the games are important for me.

"I`m unhappy we did not win the game."

it won't happen if PS constantly changes the wingers in every game, we need to get a settled side

van der gun does well at times, he's good at running at defenders and getting into good positions but his final ball/decision is always lacking. cotterill has the potential to be a great winger for us, cutting in from the left and scoring some more goals hopefully

he needs to bed down, before you will see the best of him, but don't write him off yet.
