Serran Red Card Overturned By FAW

Albert Serran's red card in the 0-0 draw at home to Crystal Palace has been rescinded and he will not serve a 3-match ban.

The Spanish defender was given his marching orders just 16 minutes into the game against Neil Warnock's side for simply making a diagonal run across Moses to block him from a goalscoring opportunity. A fair challenge which defenders do in every match in the country, yet referee Anthony Taylor gave a straight red.

Paulo Sousa said the decision was ridiculous and rejected to shake the official's hand at the end of the game for not 'showing respect'.

I heard he was sent off as he was the last man!

it dont matter, the last man rule only counts if there was a foul which there wasnt in the first place

What action does the head of football referees take against this referee? - probably nothing.

top news it's overturned, but it probably cost us the game, this ref needs to go back to non league footie and learn his trade properly

i feel that decision cost us the 3 points, in such a tight league the 2 points its probably cost us makes a big difference. its only a matter of time before a refereeing mistake of this nature will take place in a Champions League Final, Title Decider, World Cup Final etc, and everybody will cry out for technology to be used. this may not cost us the league, but when you work so hard to win 3 points and it costs you that, then surely thats bad enough.

As I said in a prevous posting we should have TV officials for exactly this type of thing. It's not a waste of time, just how long was spent arguing on this, and how long does say rugby take to sort thier 'issues' out and in some cases could mean the difference of a LOT of money where 2 points can mean the difference in promotion or not. But action should be taken against the ref, that I do agree with as they are WAY to protected for the multitude of bad decisions all year in all leagues.

What of Neil Warnock now---does he come out and say he was wrong? He reckoned it was violent conduct. The man is a joke. You only had to be there to know it was a ridiculous decision.
