Sousa Promises Fans They'll Be Rewarded

Sousa Promises Fans They'll Be Rewarded

Paulo Sousa said he was extremely grateful for the fans' support at Newcastle United yesterday and now declares 'We owe them one.'

Despite suffering a 3-0 defeat after conceding all three goals in the opening 28 minutes, the fans made themselves proud by making themselves heard from start to finish.

The Swansea City manager has recently called out to the fans to continue their support and not just turn up for the big games like Cardiff City and Newcastle United. He wants sell-out crowds week-in week out as it's vital to gaining success.

Sousa was highly appreciative of the fans' support, he said:

'The fans travelled with high hopes but went away disappointed that we couldn't get the result,''

'But the fans' performance and the reaction was fantastic and I am extremely grateful to them. Even though we found ourselves 3-0 down very quickly they continued to back us until the final whistle.

'I have said in the past that a true Jack supports the team when things are tough, not just when everything is going well.

'They certainly proved themselves true Jacks at St James's Park and I think they left a lasting impression on the home fans as well.

'It's a long way to come to support the team and it costs a lot of money in the current financial climate, especially with Christmas just around the corner.

'But me and my players really appreciate it and while the fans didn't get their reward at Newcastle, I promise them we will reward them for that support. We owe them one.''
