Sousa Keen To Continue Strengthening Squad

Paulo Sousa says he is keen to continue strengthening the squad, after watching his side end their 11-match unbeaten run at Newcastle United yesterday.

The Swansea City manager has recently added winger David Cotterill to the squad on loan as he is expected to look for more new faces when the transfer window re-opens in January.

Paulo Sousa said at the start of the season that he wanted a squad of 25 players, but he has 40 players and he'll need to release quite a few, especially if he wants to bring in more players in the new Year.

Sousa told Wales Online:

“I have said from the beginning I would like a squad of 25 or so – the players, the chairman and the board know this and which players should go and why.

“We are trying to achieve this and if it doesn’t happen there will be a reason.

“But we must still continue to build, we cannot wait for things to settle.

“We can still bring in players. The chairman and I are people with a good understanding and we know the way to work together well.

“We are not struggling financially so we can handle the situation.

“We are looking to improve our squad, to be more competitive, so we will keep looking to do that.”
