Sousa: We Deserved Much More

Paulo Sousa says his side deserved a lot more after losing 3-0 away at Newcastle United, which ends their 11-match unbeaten run.

The home side did the damage inside of half an hour. Harewood got the first after just 8 minutes before Lovenkrands added a second on 21 minutes before Harewood got a second 7 minutes later.

All of Newcastle's goals were headers but after that Swansea City competed well as they looked to get back into the match.

The second half saw Swansea City enjoy much more of the play, but they were unable to get through the League's toughest defence.

Sousa said:

'We deserved much more than this, we started afraid and we conceded twice from counter-attacks.

'But we made some corrections before half-time and then in the second half we had better control of the game.

'But this is Newcastle, it's very difficult for anyone to catch them. West Brom have a great squad... but I think Newcastle have more claims on the Championship.'

As usual Sousa made a mistake. No Joe Allen? What was he thinking? Let's be brutally honest, the game was over on the half hour and once the Swans go behind early on they are completely thrown. You could feel the nerves and it was apparent they froze. The rest of the game was easy for Newcastle---ok the Swans had a lot of the ball and two or three long range shots but Newcastle could and should have made it 4. The jury is still out on Sousa, let's see what he's made of next Saturday--another tricky away game.
