Jenkins Not A Fan Of Two-Tier Premiership

Jenkins Not A Fan Of Two-Tier Premiership

Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins says he is not a fan of a proposal to create a new two-tier Premier League.

Bolton chairman Phil Gartside's idea for the new League set up would include Scottish Premier League sides Celtic and Rangers and it would allow promotion and relegation between the two tiers, but would not necessarily allow promotion and relegation from the Championship.

Huw Jenkins told BBC Sport:

'I completely disagree with his [Gartside] ideas... it would be very detrimental to football,'

'Our club can develop to satisfy any criteria, we're not worried about that... we've got a system in place that's fair and allows for clubs to change and evolve over time,'

'We need clubs having promotion and relegation, that's why our football and our Premier League, our Championship and Football Leagues are so successful.

'If we ever take that away it will probably be the start of the end of everything we've ever fought for and created in football.

'I don't believe anybody... should be neglected because of the inability of the Premier League and Championship clubs to run themselves properly.'

Are you a fan of this proposal to create a new two-tier Premier League? It would involve between 36-40 teams.
