Van Der Gun Looking Forward To Derby Game

Cedric Van Der Gun is looking forward to Saturday's derby match at home against Cardiff City.

The Dutchman, who joined the club around 2 months ago scored his first goal in a Swansea shirt on Saturday as we comfortably beat Scunthorpe United 2-0 at Glanford Park.

The 30 year-old was delighted to get off the mark, and it only took him 6 games to bin the 'Number 11 shirt curse'. A number of players have struggled for goals in the shirt, Mark Gower last season being the most recent example.

Van Der Gun has had his fair share of derby matches in Europe it seems, as he told BBC Sport that he's been involved in ones in Germany and his native Holland.

'In Holland... I've played in Ajax-Feyenoord which of course is a big match,'

'I've played Borussia Dortmund-Bayern Munich as well and that was a really nice match to play as well.

'But everybody in Swansea says it is nothing to Swansea-Cardiff, so we'll see next week!'

'Everybody told me about it, especially a lot of fans came up to me and said, 'you know this game is really important?' Van der Gun added.

'So yeah I'm looking forward to it.'

[Talking about scoring his first goal] 'Finally! And of course the win which is really important to get the three points, it's nice to get a goal then,' said the 30-year-old.

'Especially if you're a winger it's nice to play in a team who can play really good football like this.

'It was really important for me as well when I came to Swansea and I already knew they had a good team and they played some good football last year.

'I think this season we showed we can play some good football.'

huge game of course. i'm really confident of a win, especially after watching cardiff play yesterday, they weren't that good, we're on a good run and look solid at home, and away.
