'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Adkins: We Were Beaten By An 'Exceptional Side'

Scunthorpe United boss Nigel Adkins said his side got a 'good chasing' yesterday as they were beaten 2-0 by Swansea City.

Paulo Sousa's side dictated the play and dominated possession throughout as they won comfortably by 2 goals, extending our unbeaten run to 9 games.

Adkins said:

'We got a good chasing,'

'We knew Swansea were a good footballing side and they demonstrated that today.

'We wanted to play at a high tempo and get in their faces, but it wasn't sufficient and neither was our quality on the ball.

'We need to have desire and we need to have work rate. But we looked totally drained; there was no spark and no energy.

'For all the football they had we gave two poor goals away. We gave away the ball on numerous occasions, and we knew we were playing against an exceptional side.''
