Britton Expected To Sign New Contract Soon

Swansea City could receive further boosts as Leon Britton and Garry Monk are expected to sign new contracts soon.

Midfielder Leon Britton, who's in his 7th season with the Swans, is expected to pen a new contract within the next couple of weeks while skipper Garry Monk should also extend his stay at the Liberty Stadium in the near future. Both players' current deals expire in June 2010.

Defenders Alan Tate and Ashley Williams have both signed new 4 year deals at the club with two more key players set for talks.

Paulo Sousa told the Evening Post:

'We want to have the best players staying here with us,'

'We are talking about players who are important for the team and for the dynamic.

'They belong already to our family and they know the way we do things. These are players we need to care for.'

'I hope we can resolve things with Leon probably this week or next week,'

'Garry is another player we want to keep, and there are some more we want to speak to.

'Some of them have two years left on their contracts already, but we are looking to extend those deals.

'By doing that we give them some recognition for their work and we show them what we expect from them now and in the future.'
