Chairman Says Stay Off The Pitch

Chairman Says Stay Off The Pitch

The chairman Huw Jenkins sends a message to Swansea fans about the last home game which read:

From the Official Site

Over the past few seasons it has become something of a 'tradition' for some of our supporters to show their appreciation for the players by going onto the field of play at the final whistle of the last home game of the season at the Vetch. You will be aware that we have a different set of circumstances at our new home and our new pitch is still in its first year of development. The pitch, which will prove to be one of the best surfaces in the country given proper care will shortly be subject to renovation works, which would be severely affected by any encroachment by fans.

Furthermore this coming Tuesday the Stadium will host an important Schools Under 15's Cup Final, involving our own Swansea Schoolboys and Liverpool Schools. This is going to be a fantastic evening for the boys and we want them to enjoy the Stadium at its best. To this end we wish to resist any encroachment onto the field of play at any time and I would like to remind our supporters that it is an arrestable offence to enter the playing area at the Liberty Stadium.

Any supporter encroaching onto this area before, during or after the game will be banned from the Stadium.

If all supporters remain in their seats following the final whistle the players will return to the field for a lap of honour.

Your co-operation will be greatly appreciated.

he has got a good point though. Its not as if its the last ever game there or anything and to be honest i hadnt really thought about people running on the pitch until he mentioned it probably just the odd fan will do so. but maybe southend fans will because they could get automatic promotion if they win.

It has a knock on effect as soon as a few start running onto the pitch the rest will follow .

It's been done for years and it's not as though flat trainers are going to damage it more than 20st rugby players . Also did you see Michelle Collins last week she had high heels on and no one said a word .
