Sousa: We Can Still Finish In Top 10

Despite our disappointing start to the season, Swansea City manager Paulo Sousa is still aiming for a top 10 finish this year.

The 38 year-old was looking to consolidate last season's 8th position with similar success in 2009/2010 but so far we have struggled to results, and goals on the pitch.

Sousa told the Evening Post:

'I don't look at the table until the end,'

'When you start to build something new from the beginning, you need to settle things.

'You need to settle players who want to leave, those who do leave and those who need operations after last season.

'You have to build everything and I know I have time, so I don't think about the table.

'In the end we will look at it and we will reflect.

'I keep believing in my players and I think we can finish in the first 10.

'I want to be there at the end of the season because being in the first 10 now doesn't matter.'

Despite our poor start, which has seen us win just 1 game in 8, Sousa seems to have the support of the majority of the fans, though some think he should go if he doesn't see results improve over the next few games.

Sousa still has belief in his squad and he's been encouraged by the spirit and level of performance in the last few games.

He added:

'They need to have confidence in themselves because they have the talent,'

'When they play with the spirit they have shown in the last couple of games, the talent will shine through and make the difference.'

'We have worked on finishing every day,'

'We are trying to help the players. We have worked a lot on our offensive organisation to try to help their confidence.'
