'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Sousa's Reaction To Preston Defeat

Paulo Sousa shares his thoughts after watching his side lose away at Preston North End on Saturday.

Goals either side of half time gave The Lilywhites the 3 points as they maintained their unbeaten start to the Championship season.

Sousa's side yet again struggled to create many chances to score goals. Our best opportunity came in the first half but Mark Gower missed a one-on-one chance with the goalkeeper. Up until then we were matching the home side.

Sousa told the Evening Post:

'I keep believing in my players,'

'We have done good work against Preston, we have created chances.

'When we start to score and we have all our players back, of course I believe we have got the goals in our team.'

Sousa also praised goalkeeper Dorus De Vries who made some outstanding saves in the second half to keep the score down.

'Our goalkeeper did very well, but I would not say I am impressed because I know what Dorus can do. It is important for a goalkeeper to save and to give confidence to the rest of the team.

'We can expose ourselves more, with a lot of mobility in our offensive game, because he will be there to do his job.'

'For an hour I thought it was one of the best games we have had offensively,'

'We played some really good football and we created chances from out wide and through the central corridor. This is a big positive for us.

'But of course, against a team like Preston, you need to score.'
