U-Turn For McLeod?

Kevin McLeod's Swansea career looked to be over last month when he was transfer listed by Jackett, but he could well be given another chance after he was given a starting place away at Oldham last Saturday.

McLeod has been out of action for the past 6 weeks as a result of being transfer-listed.

He was close to joining Southend on loan but the loan deadline was missed by a matter of minutes.

After the game Jackett told BBC SPORT:

'It wasn't a hard decision, he's on our pay-roll and he's desperate to go again at Swansea,'

'He did well and that was no surprise to me, he's got his head down and trained well for the last couple of weeks.

'I made six changes to the team and they were necessary. We were poor at Rotherham last week, there was no energy in training and we had to freshen things up.

'Kevin gave us more balance. Andy Robinson has not been as effective since I pushed him out wide and I wanted to get him more involved in the midfield.

'My options for a natural left-footer on the flank were either Tom Williams or Kevin, and when Garry Monk was injured in the week I needed Tom in defence.

'The needs of the club come first until the end of the season, we'll talk about Kevin's future later.'

McLeod's future with the Swans is far from saved though and Jackett certainly had a big problem with him at the time of being transfer-listed.

McLeod will have to work hard in the little time he's got to convince Jackett to keep him on.

McLeod said:

"The gaffer said to me 'Look, you've got a second chance, do you want to stay?'"

"I said 'Yes' and he said 'Well prove it to me then'. "Now it's up to me to get back to the way I was at the start of the season. I've got two years left on my contract and two years to become a better player."

"I didn't know whether I was coming or going and my head was in a mess," he added.

"But I've gone away and learned an awful lot in the last few weeks.

"All I want to do now is play for Swansea and hold onto that shirt.

"I want to do as much as I can with my ability to help get us into the play-offs and up into the Championship.

"There's nothing wrong with my head now or my commitment. I've had a little telling off and I've held my hands up.

"All I want now is to play and put a smile back on the fans' faces."

We'll try to provide you with any insight as to whether he'll be kept on or not before the end of the season.

good on Mcloed as long as he can keep of the booze and get the form we had of him at the start of the season we'll have no worries in getting a left winger in the summer

We've missed him the last few weeks. I feel if he'd been brought back into the squad sooner we would have already secured a play-off berth and still been pushing for automatic promotion.
