Swansea City Hand Trial To Midfielder Van Dijk

Swansea City have handed a trial to Dominique van Dijk, according to reports in Holland.

The Dutch midfielder, who turned 30 on Saturday, could feature alongside fellow countryman Ferrie Bodde on Wednesday as the Reserves side face Swindon at the Gnoll, Neath at 2pm.

He played for FC Volendam on loan last season and scored 5 goals in 23 appearances in the Eerste Division - the second tier of Dutch League football.

He has also been offered a contract by MLS side Toronto but it's believed he wants to stay in Europe, preferably moving to a British club.

van Dijk is a free agent who can therefore sign outside of the transfer window. He could also be joined by fellow Dutchman Cedric Van Der Gun, who the Swans are in discussions with about signing him on a free tranfer. Van Der Gun is also a free agent and he is currently considering an contract offer from Swansea City.

it's good to see us looking at free players after the transfer window closes. you'd be surprised cyjax at the quality out there if you look hard enough there's some hidden gems

there seems to be a lot going on behind the scenes at the moment. one thing is for sure Sousa seems to like things done a lot quicker than RM did. its nice to see us trying to strengthen in and out side of the transfer windows, it shows we are continually trying to better ourselfs.
