Swansea City In Talks To Sign Van Der Gun

The transfer window may be shut but Swansea City could still strengthen their squad this week as we are in talks with Dutch left winger Cedric Van Der Gun.

The Swans are able to sign the 30 year-old on a permanent deal because he is a free agent, after leaving FC Utrecht earlier in the Summer.

The former Ajax and Borussia Dortmund player was first linked with a move to South Wales when it was reported on a few Dutch football websites, but Voetbal International recently included a made-up quote from one of the club's directors John van Zweden.

However, Swansea City are in talks about signing Van Der Gun, according to his agent Karel Jansen, who told Sky Sports that the player is very interested in joining the club:

'Cedric is very interested in the move to Swansea,'

'They have made an offer and we are currently negotiating.

'It's not finalised yet, but I am hopeful it can go through. The player is willing to join Swansea, but they have to get the deal right.

'They are not far off. We are just waiting to hear back from them.

'I don't know when the move will go through. We are just waiting for Swansea.'

Jansen also added that van der Gun has spoken to Swansea City's Dutch duo Ferrie Bodde and Dorus De Vries, who could help convince him to join us:

"He knows both players well and he has already spoken to them about the move. They have said very good things about Swansea and that is important for Cedric."

Another 30-years-old? Don't want to be negative but I'd like to see us to target somewhat younger midfielders/forwars/strikers. This guy might be worth a shot for a season or so though.

we need experience in this league, his age is fine, 2 to 3 years left in him yet

30 is ok, he's a good player, he's free, whats the problem
GThomas
Midfielders peak between the age of 27 to 33 think he would be a good signing and as he is free its a no brainer
