Beattie: Joining Swansea City Was A 'No-Brainer'

New signing Craig Beattie said deciding to join Swansea City instead of Crystal Palace on loan was a 'no-brainer'.

Neil Warnock was interested in signing Beattie on loan for a number of weeks and as soon as their transfer embargo was lifted he made contact with West Brom who agreed to loan him to the club.

However, the Swans followed with a £500,000 bid and the 25 year-old Scot said it wasn't a hard decision to sign on at the Liberty Stadium.

Beattie told the Evening Post:

'There were some conversations with Crystal Palace, but once Swansea came in, it was a no-brainer,'

'This is a great footballing club, they play really good football and they were looking for a striker.

'They've identified me as the one they want to score goals and hopefully I'm going to prove their judgement right.

'I played for West Brom against Rotherham in the Carling Cup on Tuesday night, then I went into training on Thursday morning for a cool-down and was called into the chairman's office to be told Swansea had made a bid and agreed a fee.

'The contract was done pretty quick, which was very pleasing because as we know these things can drag out. I was delighted with the way it was handled.

'My chances were limited at West Brom for whatever reason and now I've got a great opportunity here. I'm just looking forward to the future.'

He also added that he's desperate to play and he's most likely going to make his debut this afternoon against Watford.

He added:

'I'm desperate to play,'

'I think the club's got the right philosophies. They want to play football and I think they've got the right players here to do that.

'I've been given the No. 9 shirt and hopefully I'm going to be able to fill the void left by Jason.

'I'm not going to set a goals figure. Hopefully performances and results are more important and I can get some goals along the way.

'We've got big players coming back, like Ferrie. I don't know if anyone else will come in, but we've got the squad for a play-off push.'
