'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Beattie 'Absolutely Delighted' To Join Swansea

Craig Beattie said he was 'absolutely delighted' to complete his £500,000 transfer from West Brom to Swansea City and he can't wait to get going at the Liberty Stadium.

The former Celtic striker passed a medical and put pen to paper on a three year deal which means he's available for selection in tomorrow's League game against Watford.

The 25 year-old has found it difficult to get first team chances at the Hawthorns and the Scot told the Official site that he had no hesitation in joining.

Paulo Sousa had previously failed in his attempts to bring in targets Danny Webber and Grzegorz Rasiak who both joined other Championship clubs this week.

The Swans' boss has finally got his striker though, which has been his priority for a number of weeks.

Beattie said:

'The move happened quite quickly but I am absolutely delighted to be here,'

'I was playing in the League Cup against Rotherham only Tuesday and then found out about Swansea's interest yesterday but had no hesitation to joining.

'I was desperate for it to go through, Swansea are one of the best football teams around and now that it has I'm delighted.'

'The boys gave me a good welcome and I'm looking forward to playing with them,' he added.

'It was also nice to see Stephen Dobbie - I used to play against him when we were younger. He's a good lad and it's nice to be able to hear another Scottish accent around the place!

'But now I'm looking forward to getting my head down, get going and score some goals.'

With both our strikers unavailable, Pintado suspended and Dobbie injured, Beattie is most likely to go straight into the starting line-up on Saturday.

Welcome to Swansea City Craig Beattie!
