Jenkins: We're Looking To Sign 2-3 Players

Huw Jenkins says the club will 'make a few signings undoubtedly' despite the trouble we're having in meeting our targets' wage demands.

The Swansea City chairman has told the Evening Post that we've had bids agreed with players in the Championship but we've struggled to agree personal terms as some of these targets are asking for double the wages we can offer.

Jenkins explained the problems we've been having in the Summer transfer window:

'I am not going to talk about particular names, but I will give you an idea,'

'A few of the players we have tried to get in are experienced Championship players aged around 28 to 30,'

'We have gone down the route of agreeing fees with clubs, but to make these players move they are asking us, in some cases, to double our wage structure.

'On top of that, they want three-year contracts.'

Despite our problems so far in trying to strengthen the squad, Jenkins remains confident that we'll sign players before the end of the month:

'We will make a few signings undoubtedly,'

'Paulo has come in and he is new to everything, so it's taken time.

'But there will be movement, definitely.

'We have lost two players from last season and we have brought in Stephen Dobbie and Jordi Lopez, as well as securing Nathan Dyer on a permanent contract.

'But we know we need to try to strengthen, following on from last season, by bringing in two or three players — and that's what we're looking to do now.'

'I understand everybody's frustration about the lack of signings, and everyone will be a lot happier when we bring a couple in,'

'However, I am quite confident about how things are going to go when all our injured players are back and we make the signings which are required.'
