Bolton Finally Give Up On Signing Bodde

Bolton Wanderers manager Gary Megson has finally ended his attempts at signing Ferrie Bodde.

Swansea City had a meeting with the Dutch midfielder and his agent recently about his future at the club and Bolton's interest, and the Swans have ignored Wanderer's final £3.5m offer.

Bodde has agreed to repay the Swans for the time and money that they have spent on his recovery from a long-term knee ligament injury and he will stay at the Liberty Stadium until the January transfer window at least.

Gary Megson said:

'Ferrie was one of the first people that we tried to sign and we've had negotiations with Swansea,'

'But we're not in a position where there's going to be agreement.

'I have stated to our chairman and our owner that we've gone as far as I want us to go.

'It's done now. The priority now is a different position.'

Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins is hopeful that Bodde will be back in action by the end of the month, he told the Evening Post:

'I had a good meeting with Ferrie and his agents,'

'We have a good relationship. I understand their point and they understand ours.

'We want Ferrie fit and playing for us over the next few weeks and I fully expect that to happen.

'As things stand, we can put talk of him leaving this month to bed.'

Bodde has made no secret of his desire to leave this summer but Bolton refused to meet Swansea's £5million valuation.

'Ferrie needs to be fit and playing for us in order to enhance his career,'

'He has started training and we hope he will be playing again by the end of the month.'
