Sousa: I Love The Club

Paulo Sousa has told the Evening Post about the good relationship he and the board have developed after just a few months since he joined as our new manager.

The 38 year-old had a difficult time at his former club QPR, working with a difficult board of directors who got too involved with managerial decisions.

He left Loftus Road in April 2009 as he was sacked for revealing confidential information.

Sousa has had a completely different experience at Swansea City though, with a welcoming board who leave Paulo to manage the squad the way he wants to with no interruptions.

'I love the club first of all because of the way they introduced themselves through the chairman,'

'The chairman and the persons on the board, their principles in life are more or less the same as mine.

'And when you go to a new place sometimes you can feel something. I feel this about the persons, about the city, about the club.

'Even before we met face to face, me and the chairman got a good feeling for each other.

'Then when I came, everything became clear from the beginning, from his side and from mine,' he added.

'This is the best way to start a good relationship.'

Sousa joined the club in June on a three-year contract and was completely happy to agree to our ways of running the club such as our wage budget and views on spending transfer fees for players.

It's excellent to hear that Sousa has already developed a good relationship with the chairman Huw Jenkins and the rest of the board, long may it continue!

You've got a good manager there - we were disappointed to lose him. But just one small cautionary note - he said pretty much the same thing about Flavio Briatore when he first joined us (obviously till he got to know the man!!)

well he didn't know him then, and sousa knows that the board here will let him get on with things
