Williams Disappointed With Leicester Defeat

Ashley Williams says yesterday's defeat at Leicester was one of the most disappointing days he's had at the club.

The centre back gave us an early lead thanks to a superb header to convert Mark Gower's corner.

Things were looking good at half time as we looked solid and we limited Leicester to only a few half-chances on goal.

The second half though was a different story. Pearson's substitutes at the restart did the business, they each scored in an excellent 3-minute period to win the game for the Foxes.

Things looked to be going our way in the second half at first when Dorus De Vries saved a penalty that Williams conceded. But the defence were weak and vulnerable, as Leicester looked like scoring on every attack.

Williams told BBC Sport:

'It's one of the most disappointed I've been since coming here,'

'I was pleased with the goal. We worked hard in training for that exact corner.

'The penalty Dorus pulled me out of with a good save and their first goal hit me in the chest and went in.

'I couldn't do anything about it, so it's disappointing on the whole.'

You can understand Williams' comments. Since he joined the club last year, he's played in a pretty solid back four, which were protected brilliantly thanks to an excellent 5-man midfield. Thanks to the midfielders last year, the defence rarely had to deal with the amount of pressure Leicester gave us yesterday in a short period, and it's fair to say that we looked like amateurs in the second half.

Williams added:

'The team that changed was probably ourselves,'

'We had a good first half, went in at half time and then I'm not too sure what happened but I think all the lessons that we learnt last year went out of the window.

'It was like the old Swans. They tried to put the pressure on and we didn't deal with it as a team.'

Did you attend yesterday's game? What are your thoughts? Can Swansea City bounce back next week against Middlesbrough?

The comment about it being one of his worst days here says it all how bad we were defensively yesterday, but they weren't helped by our lack of midfield. when allen went off we looked poor and he's out for a few weeks now probably and i dont know who can replace him
