De Vries Likely To Sign New 2-Year Deal

Goalkeeper Dorus De Vries is expected to make a surprising u-turn by signing a new 2-year deal with Swansea City.

The Dutch goalkeeper has told Voetbal International that he has a new 2-year contract offer to consider, after having talks with new manager Paulo Sousa, and he is expected to put pen to paper soon.

De Vries said after speaking to the new boss:

'That was a good conversation. He has trust in me. Swansea have come in with a new proposal that I will look at.'

According to the Dutch website he has rejected a move to return to his former club Ado Den Haag, who are looking for a new goalkeeper following the long-term injury to Robert Zwinkels.

It looked like the Dutch shot-stopper was going to leave when he failed to sign a new contract offer before the club's 7-day deadline. The Swans withdrew the offer and it looked certain that our number one goalkeeper was going to leave.

However, after talks with the new manager, Dorus De Vries has been offered a new deal and he is expected to sign this week.

Would you like to see Dorus De Vries sign a new deal with Swansea City?

It wouldn't bother me if he went, he's nothing special, but I hope he does stay. It saves us buying 2 goalkeepers, but we need to sign 1 that can compete and challenge him for the number 1 spot.
