Oliveira Joins Sousa As His Assistant

Oliveira Joins Sousa As His Assistant

Bruno Oliveira has joined Paulo Sousa as his assistant manager at Swansea City.

We speculated here earlier in the week that Oliveira would be joining him, having worked alongside Sousa during his time at QPR last season.

Oliveira said the initial feeling to be at Swansea City was very positive, he told Real Radio:

'The first feeling is very positive and we are really happy to be here.

'We had a good chat with Martinez when we played Swansea at QPR.'

Did you admire Swansea's play last season?

'Very much! We are Latin and we love this style of play. You can see from Paulo's statement last season that he praised Swansea a lot, he always said that they were the team that played the better football in the League. Their style of play for us was the most beautiful in the League last season.

'We are confident that we are the right choice for keeping this style of play because now it's almost a culture. '

'You, the fans and the players have to understand as well that the second year is always the most difficult, because in the first year you create some surprises. The second year is the year you have to prove that you have the quality to play in the League and achieve good results.'

Oliveira had to retire early due to injuries to both knees, but he spent a lot of time with a lot of different clubs learning to prepare for his coaching roles.

He spent time on work experience at Lazio with Sven Goran Erikkson, Real Madrid with Portugal boss Carlos Quiroz and Manchester United, learning a lot with some top names in football.
