Physio Richie Evans Leaves For Wigan Athletic

Physio Richie Evans ends his 10-year spell with the club, and joins Roberto Martinez at Wigan Athletic.

He worked for 6 different managers since joining the Swans in 1999 and carried out the physio, conditional and fitness work of the squad under Roberto Martinez.

Huw Jenkins told the Official Site:

'While we are sorry to see him go, his commitment and service to this club over the last 10 years has been first class.

'He feels he needs a change after a decade with the club and I have thanked him personally for what he has done for us over the years.''

Richie Evans is the sixth member of staff to leave to join Wigan Athletic. The others are Roberto Martinez, Inaka Bergara, Oscar Brau, Kevin Reeves and Graeme Jones.

Paulo Sousa is expected to be confirmed as our new manager tomorrow at a 1pm press conference. A Portugese, Spaniard and a Australian are likely to join him as his backroom staff.

Not great loss, I got sick and tired of the amount of times he'd get it wrong with how long players were out and then bringing players back too soon.

He was a committed long servant to the club, as James said 10 years is a long time in football and it's a shame he's decided to leave and join the rest of them at Wigan. Not surprising though.

Players report back on thursday. So who is going to assess their fitness? Hope that Richie Evans did give the squad their diet and fitness routines before they went on their break.
