Collins Delighted To Sign New Contract
Matty Collins has signed a new 2-year contract with Swansea City.
The full back was delighted to secure his future at the club despite finding it difficult to break into the first team.
Collins told the Official Site:
'I was told midway through last season that I would be offered a new deal, but with all the uncertainty surrounding the manager it was always in the back of my mind that it may not happen.
'Last season was better than my first at the club and I intend to keep that progression going. At my age and at this stage of my career, I need to be playing on a more regular basis.
'I feel my game has progressed significantly over the last two years at the club, especially as I've switched from midfield to right-back. I feel comfortable there now and I believe I am ready to kick-on.
'I love the club and I am proud, especially as a Welshman, to be offered the new deal. It's a great club and I really want to kick on here.''
Collins started last season at right back, replacing Angel Rangel for the opening two games and he did a good job, but he was back on the bench when the Spaniard returned.
He joined the club on a free from Fulham as he looked for first team football. He had a brief loan spell with Wrexham but the Welsh youngster has only started 4 League games in his entire career.
