Knill Rules Out Swansea City Move

Bury manager Alan Knill has ruled himself out of the vacant manager's job at Swansea City.

The former player says it's pure speculation and the only reason he has been linked is because he's played for the Swans and that his team were successful last season.

"It's being said that Dennis Wise has applied for the Swansea and Watford post. "
Knill has a 47% win record at Bury, winning 33 of the 70 games he's been in charge at the club.

The Shakers finished 4th last season in League Two but lost to Shrewsbury on penalties in the play-off semi-final.

Knill joins Chris Coleman, Paul Tisdale, John Hughes and Csaba László as the managers who have been ruled out of replacing Martinez as our new manager.

He told the Manchester Evening News:

"I have been offered a new contract. I am thankful for that as it shows that the board think that I am doing a good job here and I am currently mulling it over.

"I am happy at Bury and I am certainly not looking to leave.

"I feel that the club has made a lot of progress since I took the job a year and a half ago. But there are still a lot of things that we need to work on and improve.

"I want to finish the work that I have started here and, hopefully, I will get the time to do that.

"It is nice to be linked with jobs like Swansea but it`s just speculation which has come about because I am a former Swansea player and because Bury did really well last season.

"Swansea is a big club with great potential and that is a really big job.

I am ambitious but I have not been at Bury for long and I am not at a point in my career where I am looking to move to another club."

Graeme Jones, Gary Speed, Aidy Boothroyd and Gus Poyet seem to be the main candidates for the job at present. Little has been said lately though about our progress in appointing Martinez's replacement due to yesterday's farce as Wigan failed to unveil the Spaniard's official appointment.
