Sky Sports believe that Swansea City have failed in their attempts to appoint Exeter's Paul Tisdale as their new manager.
Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins spoke highly of Tisdale's records and achievements having won 2 promotions with the Grecians in three years.
Tisdale was on Jenkins' short-list of candidates to replace Roberto Martinez, whose move to Wigan Athletic has been delayed even further due to confusion over the backroom staff and their compensation fees.
It's look like we'll have to look elsewhere if Sky Sports are correct in their understanding that Tisdale will stay at St James Park, their article reads:
Skysports.com understands Swansea approached Exeter about their boss and were close to agreeing a deal for his services.
However, the response from Tisdale was less than encouraging and as such they have been forced to look elsewhere for a replacement for Martinez.
Ambitious Tisdale is seemingly keen to have a crack at League One with Exeter before even contemplating leaving St James' Park.
Exeter issued a statement quickly after speculation grew about Tisdale's future at the club, it said:
'It is no secret that Paul Tisdale has attracted, and continues to attract, the attention of clubs from higher divisions.
'Although potential opportunities may be attractive, Paul believes that the opportunity afforded him three years ago by Exeter City Football Club will always be the most important one he has been given.
'Every effort is being made by Exeter City FC to 'grow the business' to enable Paul to continue the significant improvement the team has made recently.
'While Paul believes that this potential growth is viable and being actively pursued by the club he remains committed to developing the team further, as ever continuing to assist with the club's further progression.'
